Invisible Depression

Depression doesn’t look what you think it would from the outside. Think of all your bubbly friends, the “fun” friends, they could be suffering from depression. Most of the symptoms are invisible to those surrounding us.

Depression is like a glass of water filled to the top. On sunny days the water evaporates just enough, so there is no spillage. On those days things seem normal. Other times the slightest drop of water added to the top causes the glass to overflow. That’s why people with chronic depression can seem happy and well adjusted like the rest of the society. In reality their mental glass is full the top and it doesn’t take much to take them to that dark place instantly. The dark place is never gone. It is always there like the water. They just live with it and pretend to be normal. Smallest things will trigger the whole darkness to swirl into a tornado taking them to places nobody wants to go.
