Lyme and surgery

When you have Lyme disease and have a surgery – even an unrelated or a minor one, your body goes haywire. Lyme is an opportunistic infection, it attacks you where you are weak. The surgery is trauma to the body. Lyme will settle where the trauma is and slow down the healing process. It will trigger inflammation on surgery site and put your body in fight or flight response. Your body will release more pain related neurotransmitters, which will send pain signals to your entire body (not just your surgery site). Pain despite around the clock intake of pain killers becomes unbearable.

I share this picture along with the details so people understand, we aren’t here exaggerating, seeking attention or have lower pain threshold. We literally experience tremendous amount of pain. #pain #lymedisease #surgery #postop #trauma #healing
